So lately, I've been trying to work with my Wash N Go's (WNG's) and I must say that I am more than pleased with them. I returned all of the products that I had purchase trying to achieve the perfect twist out. I went back to the beginning and my simplistic hair routine - the Curly Girl Method. I had some products that I had purchased a couple of years ago when I transitioned the first time, so I figured I'd use them. I also added (2) additional products as part of my wash/detangle/conditioning routine.
The line that I started to use again for my WNG's is Aveda Be Curly - I only have the Style Prep and the Curl Enhancer (pictured below). I have to say I LOVE this stuff!! I've gotten many compliments on my WNG's while using the combo. Stay tuned for a how to in the near future...
I added a diffuser to my WNG routine when I have a little extra time but because I like to sleep in, I don't use it all the time. I don't use high heat and I only do enough to set my curls and get the excess water out.
A few months back, I did a post about using Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Castille Soap as my cleanser and following that up with an ACV rinse. The products are natural, concentrated and give me the most for my money. I still use the castille soap, but now I mix it with conditioner and water to make more of a co-wash. Here is the "recipe" that I use:
- 2 TBS of conditioner - I use Tresseme Naturals
- 1TBS of peppermint castille soap
- water
I put this mixture into a plastic applicator bottle for easy application directly to the scalp while my hair is divided into 4 sections. I also added two additional products from the Dr. Bronner's line - the light hair conditioner and style creme & the conditioning rinse. I use the conditioning rinse mixed with ACV immediately following my cleanse. I will say, I am on the fence about the conditioning rinse - it did the job well, but if you scratch your scalp or body it does burn slightly until rinsed out. The first time I used it, I flashed back to my relaxed days and the perm burning my scalp!! No BUENO! Here is the complete lineup:
The light hair conditioner and style creme is great - I use it pretty much daily with the Aveda line and without it. I really like it and a little goes a long way. I still don't have a set schedule for cleansing and clarifying my hair but for the most part, its about once per month. I wet my hair almost daily - some days I can get away second day. The top is usually fine, but the back is flat - just a light mist and a lil fluff and I am good to go.
