Days 21: Get Rid of Stuff You Don't Need
This is like music to my ears! I had already started de-cluttering the house so I am so excited that it is part of this process. My mother and I will be having a yard sale in the Spring and if it doesn't happen, then we will just have a charity pick up the items.
Over the next few months, I will continue going through each room and getting all the "stuff" I don't need together so that I can sell/donate. So, while I'd love for this to be immediate, it will take some time.
Your challenge - find 10 items that you can either sell or donate, more if you'd like. Once you've gotten rid of it, come back and tell me how it feels.
Til tomorrow....
Another great post!
ReplyDeleteThis is challenging. We don't realize how much we accumulate over time. Today is 12/1/13, the start of my month of purging. I don't have a lot of stuff, but I do have things that are just taking up unnecessary space in my home. My goal is to have empty guest room closets and an organized basement storage area, with all items donated by 12/31/13. May not be possible, but I'm going to try.
It'll be nice to ring in the new year clutter free!
Thank you! Yes, it is very challenging. We tend to be attached to a memory or a feeling that an item gives verses its usefulness in our life. For ex. those skinny jeans that are 2 sizes too small, yet it reminds you of when you were able to fit them so you hold onto them in the hopes that you will fit in them again. I believe Oprah says that if you haven't used/worn something in six months, let it go. I have a BUNCH of stuff that I don't use/wear. I am holding out til the April because my mom wants to have a yard sale - and that's a lot of time to got through every room of my house. Thanks Malika for following me - I love to hear comments on how this may be helping you in your life!
